What is power-flushing

Power-flushing is a premium service offered by Heating engineers in and around London, which helps rid your central heating system of unwanted materials. This process is carried out by connecting a machine to your central heating system, which then with the aid of a high velocity pump and chemical removes dirt and debris from the system.

If your system isn't flushed regularly then it will begin a corrosion process, which causes a sludge build up in radiators and pipework. The power-flushing machine pumps this out and aids the boiler and radiators to work more efficently.

Central heating situations

  • What does it mean if my pressure guage needle moves when the system is on?
    If you notice the needle moving when the boiler ignites, this is an indicator that your system has a build up. This could be air in the system, or worst case a build up of sludge which will need removing. If your experiencing this problem then give us a call to discuss appropriate action.
  • I've noticed my radiators are not hot at the top?
    Radiators that are not getting hot at the top, is an indicator of air in the system. In this situation you should use a radiator key to remove the air, then top up the system appropriately.
  • Our radiators have cold spots at the bottom, is this a problem?
    If your radiators are cold at the bottom then this is the main sign your radiators are blocked. Radiators tend to get blocked with a sludge like substance which prevents an even flow of heat across the radiator. In this situation you will definately need a power-flush.
  • Our radiators are working upstairs, but not working downstairs?
    When radiators down stairs stop working this is a big problem. Sludge in the system will sit at the lowest point, hence the downstairs radiators usually fail first. Gradually the system will fill up and your boiler will breakdown all together. As soon as you notice this you should call it in and get it dealt with on an asap basis.
